Kia is gearing up to launch its first car in the Indian market, the SP2i, later this year. The South Korean company's first vehicle will be launched to compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks. The upcoming SUV will be based on the Kia SP concept, which was showcased last year at the 2018 Auto Expo. Kia Motors has been testing their new car on the Indian roads under heavy camouflage. Here are some new images of the new SUV.

The new pictures by Throttle-Blips show even offer a glimpse of the cabin. While the dashboard isn't clearly visible, the new model will likely offer many class-leading features. The highlight of the dashboard of the Kia SP2i will be an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. That said, the infotainment system of the test mule has been concealed behind the camouflage. However, one can still spot a piano black finish around the infotainment unit. The upcoming SUV also gets a nice looking leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel. The doors get some chrome and silver accents that look quite upmarket.

On the outside, the Kia SP2i gets some smart looking alloys along with sporty looking red brake callipers. The SUV will get Kia's signature Tiger Nose grille up front. Illumination will be done by a pair of slim headlamps and LED sequential side indicators. The front bumper also gets a wide central air intake. The SUV is expected to carry a price tag of Rs 9.5-14 lakh (ex-showroom). The SP2i will be available with petrol and diesel engine options. Moreover, it is rumoured that the company will offer a set of new BSVI-ready 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. Kia is also expected to launch a plug-in hybrid variant of the SUV at a later stage. The company has recently opened its first-ever showroom in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Its global models like the Stinger GT and the Rio hatchback are currently displayed there. The upcoming SUV will play an essential part in Kia’s purpose of becoming the fifth biggest automaker in India in the forthcoming years
