Fiat India Automobiles reported that the Jeep Compass SUV has been experiencing a dwindling sales in the Indian market. Statistics revealed that FCA India sold only 1150 Jeep Compass units in October 2018.
With the starting price of Rs 15.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Jeep Compass is one of the most popular models of the American brand in India that achieved a sales success of average 2,200 units every month last year. However, it is currently no longer a tiny difference that the monthly sales figures of the Compass SUV drop by 53% with 1150 units sold in October 2018. So what are the main causes of the aggravated sales for the Jeep Compass?
The 2018 Jeep Compass's sales figures fell down sharply to 1,150 units this October
Mahindra XUV 500 is the bitter rival
The superlative model of Mahindra& Mahindra is the XUV 500. Although this vehicle did not make a triumph when first launched in the Indian market, Mahindra carried out a bunch of cosmetic and mechanical upgrades in the facelifted versions for the SUV that tremendously contributed to its increasing sales numbers in the country. The cheaper price, a more spacious cabin, more advanced features and better driving performance are the key factors helping the Mahindra XUV 500to defeat the Jeep Compass.
The presence of the Mahindra XUV500 causes a big Jeep Compass's sales reduction
The lack of facelift/update
It has been one year and a half since the Jeep Compass was launched. The American SUV maker did a minor tweak in technology and design that fails to meet the higher needs and aspiration of customers. Virtually all people who desire for a new SUV would give much attention to the latest updated model that provides a variety of state-of-the-art equipment and features. On the other hand, a lot of other car manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Hyundai, Tata Motors etc. release scores of new and outstanding vehicles with attractive prices each year that “steal” a great number of customers from the Jeep Compass.
The American carmaker should bring in more available offers to attract the buyer's attention
It is undeniable that Jeep Compass is a good SUV but the American manufacturer, in the long term, should make further steps to offer better choices for the Indians to take a serious part in the progressively aggressive competition.
