Jeep plans to introduce a range of new vehicles in the Indian market in the coming years. The carmaker will launch an updated Jeep Compass, a new compact SUV, a new three-row SUV and two new imported models. The Jeep Compass was first introduced in 2016 and was launched in India in 2017. The SUV is expected to receive its first facelift by the second half of this year. The updated model is already under development and was recently spotted in China. The major launch from Jeep India, however, will be that of the ‘Jeep Low D 3-row’ SUV and also an all-new compact SUV codenamed Jeep 526.

The Jeep Low D 3-row is expected to hit the Indian market by next year, while the sub-4 meter SUV will launch in 2022. The MD of Jeep India revealed that two new iconic products are also in the pipeline for our market. These two iconic products will launch in India next year.  One of the new vehicles can be the new-gen Jeep Cherokee, while the other one could be the Mk3 Fiat 500, which was unveiled last month.

The Jeep Wrangler EV is yet to be revealed and could also launch in India. Here is what Mr Datta said about FCA launching electric vehicles in India, “We’ve got an electric Wrangler coming and we just unveiled the new Fiat 500 EV in Europe; so, we have the products, and we can bring them to India if the infrastructure is in place and there is sufficient demand.”

The 7-seater SUV from Jeep has been spotted testing several times already and is likely to shed some of the camouflage in the coming times.

The upcoming 7-seater Jeep SUV will derive power from a 1.3-litre FireFly Turbo petrol mill and a 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel unit. The petrol engine will come paired with a 6-speed MT or CVT, while the oil-burner will be coupled to a 6-speed MT and 9-speed AT. With a range of models planned for our market, Jeep India could gain some much-needed market share in the country.
