Kia Motor To Introduce Its New Offering At 2020 Auto Expo

Kia’s second launch in India will be an MPV which is expected to make its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo.

Recently, Kia made its debut in the Indian market with the launch of the Kia Seltos. This SUV gained instant success with over 40,000 bookings within one month of its launch. With this initial accomplishment, Kia Motor are much more positive about its prospect in India. The company has now confirmed that it will launch a new model every six months during its initial phase in the market.

Kia will launch an MPV as its second car in India at the 2020 Auto Expo

In an interview with ET Auto, Manohar Bhatt, Head of Sales & Marketing, Kia Motors India, confirmed that the second launch for Kia Motors will arrive in January. It's next product is an MPV which will make its debut at the Auto Expo 2020. It is well-known that they had this planned and the Kia Carnival was also showcased back in 2018 at the Auto Expo. When it enters the Indian market, the MPV will come with a couple of updates to fit Indian buyers’ taste. Alongside the introduction of the new Carnival, Kia will also reveal its future line-up at the Auto Expo.

Kia also plans to launch a sub-four meter SUV which is based on the Hyundai Venue. Besides this, Kia is also working on a new hatchback which is built on the Rio. According to some recent reports, Kia is also considering some models from its international line-up to introduce in our market. The models that are under consideration include the Telluride, Stinger, Sorento, Niro EV and Soul EV. Kia Motors is determined to make the most out of the government’s incentive which allows carmakers to import 2,500 cars per month without homologation.

Kia’s new MPV is expected to be the Kia Carnival

The KiaCarnival is likely to be imported via the CKD route (completely knocked down) and therefore, its price is expected to range from INR 22 lakh to INR 28 lakh. The current model available in the global market is 5,115mm long, 1,985mm wide and 1,740mm high. The wheelbase, on the other hand, measures 3,060mm. In terms of the dimensions, Kia Carnival is bigger than the Innova Crysta. When launched, the Kia Carnival is likely to feature a BS-VI compliant 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with a maximum power ouput of 200bhp and a maximum torque ouput of 441 Nm. It is likely to be available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
