Kia Seltos Bookings Commence In Selected Cities

Kia Motors is preparing to launch its first SUV in the Indian auto market, the Kia Seltos, which recently made its official debut in India. Its specifications have been revealed earlier, ahead of its launch which is scheduled to take place in August.

The Kia Seltos made its international debut in India last week.

Whereas almost all Kia dealerships in India are in the final preparation stages, several dealerships have already unofficially commenced the bookings for the new SUV. Some dealers in New Delhi even revealed that the bookings for the Seltos have been unofficially opened with the booking about of INR 25,000. The bookings of the Seltos is expected to be officially commenced by mid-July.

The Kia Seltos will be a premium and good-looking SUV with an attractive and modern appearance. Equipped with a wide array of segment-leading features, the vehicle will ensure a comfortable and safe journey for both the driver and the passengers.

The Seltos will be offered in a wide range of colour options for the exterior. While the single-tone paint scheme options will consist of silver, grey, clear while, glacier white, orange, blue, black and red, the dual-tone ones will include glacier white and orange, silver and black, glacier white and black as well as red and black.

In terms of the dimension, the Kia Seltos will measure 4,315 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,620 mm high which translate into a greater length and width than the Hyundai Creta.

Under the hood of the Kia Seltos is ecpected be three motor options: a 1.5-litre 4-cyl naturally-aspirated petrol motor, a 1.4-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbo diesel unit. While the 6-speed MT gearbox will be standard on all of the three motors, the automatic transmission options will vary, depending on the motors. Specifically, the 1.5-litre petrol motor will be mated to a 6-speed CVT gearbox, the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine will be coupled with a 7-speed DCT unit and finally, the diesel unit will be paired with a 6-speed torque converter. All of these three engines will comply with the BS-VI emission standards.

The Kia Seltos comes with multiple engine and transmission options.

Once launched, the Kia Seltos is expected to be priced in the range from INR 11 lakh to INR 17 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, it will compete against the Nissan Kicks, the Tata Harrier, the Mahindra XUV500, the Renault Captur, the MG Hector which is going to be launched in India in the next few days and the best-selling Hyundai Creta.
