Kia Motors has set a new record of selling 50,000 connected cars within 10 months after the launch of its first product. The sales include units of the Kia Seltos and Carnival.

Kia Motors entered the Indian market last year with the launch of the Kia Seltos. The compact SUV has gained a huge success and triumphed over the first-gen Hyundai Creta to become the best-selling vehicle in its class. After the launch of the Kia Seltos, Kia introduced the second product, which is the Carnival premimum MPV, at the Auto Expo 2020. As per a recent report, Kia Motors has sold over 50,000 connected cars in the form of Seltos and Carnival within 10 months of the debut of its first product. This has helped the comapny establish a new record for a car brand in India.

For both the Seltos and Carnival, Kia put a strong focus on applying the latest connectivity technologies. Both of the cars are equipped with the advanced UVO system that allows seamless connectivity between your smartphones, the infotainment system and your car. From the beginning, this system includes 37 features. However, the carmaker has continuously developed the system. It is currently updated to offer over 50 smart features.

The updated features include Voice Assist Wake Up command that allows the UVO system to be activated by saying “Hello Kia”. With the newly-updated commands, the system can support the car users to make a phone call as well as receive updates on the weather, time and date, national holiday, and cricket score. The new system can help users to control the media, navigation and climate system using simple commands.

The updated version of the UVO system comes with a host of new features.

Apart from these convenience features, the new system includes some safety and security updates. If the vehicle is stolen, the system will immobilize the car and make calls to Kia’s call centre. In case of an accident, a message will be forward to friends and family via the Auto collision notification system. Moreover, the air purifier can be activated remotely via this connected system.

Mr Koohyun Shim, Managing Director and CEO from Kia Motors has commented on this milestone,

We have attained this landmark figure due to our strong determination and continuous efforts to bring innovation and next-gen technology to our customers. At Kia Motors India, we are committed to meet new consumer demands and fill the gap in what’s offered to them.

He also emphasizes the role of the UVO connected technology in bringing a new experience to car users. With the updated version of this innovative system which will be introduced in the new Seltos and upcoming Sonet, he hopes that it will bring excitement and convenience for car users. Kia Sonet will be the third product from the South Korean car brand to be launched. The new SUV is expected to go on sales later this year.
