Kia Seltos will be available with two petrol units and one diesel engine. Each of them will be available with both manual and automatic gearbox options. The fuel mileage figure of each powertrain has just been revealed.
Kia is gearing up for its first launch in the India market with the SUV Kia Seltos. The new SUV is scheduled to go on sale on August 22, 2019. Some details about the engine options of the Kia Seltos were revealed earlier. Recently, new information about the fuel efficiency of each powertrain option is revealed.
2019 Kia Seltos will be available with a wide range of powertrain options. It comes with two petrol engines and one diesel unit. All of which will be strictly compliant with the upcoming BSVI emission norms. Two petrol motors include a 1.5-litre engine and a 1.4-litre turbocharged GDI engine. These engines generate the power output of 115hp/144Nm and 140hp/242Nm, respectively. Besides the standard six-speed manual gearbox across the range, the 1.-5-litre petrol engine will be equipped with a CVT automatic unit while the latter will get an optional 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The only diesel engine is good for the peak power of 115 bhp and the peak torque of 250 Nm. Just like its petrol counterpart, the diesel engine gets a standard 6-speed manual unit. It is also available with a torque converter automatic gearbox. Here are the details of the fuel mileage of each powertrain of the Kia Seltos, revealed by sources from dealerships.
Hyundai Creta is Kia Seltos’s biggest rival. The Creta is currently ruling the mid-size SUV segment with the highest sales. Besides, the Creta also sets the standards for its space in many ways. At the moment, the Creta leads the segment in terms of fuel efficiency. However, with the revealed mileage figures of the Kia Seltos, it seems that the Seltos could outdo the Creta when it comes to fuel economy. Virtually, Kia Seltos’ fuel mileages are higher than those of the Creta in most cases, except for the diesel-manual combination (Hyundai Creta - 22.1 kmpl, Kia Seltos - 20.8kmpl).
Kia Seltos could be one of the most fuel-efficient cars in its segment
Besides the high fuel efficiency, Kia Seltos also features various advanced features including a head-up display, 360-degree view camera, sunroof, ventilated seats, and an 8-speaker Bose Hi-Fi sound system as well as a large 10.25-inch touchscreen.
Booking for the Kia Seltos started on July 16 at the price of Rs 25,000. By the end of this month, Kia Seltos will be available for display across Kia’s dealership network. Test drive is expected to be slated in early Agust. The price range for this SUV is likely to go from Rs 11 lakh to Rs 17 lakh. After launch, it will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, MG Hector, Mahindra XUV500 and Renault Captur.
