Kia has sold a total of 75,000 units of the Seltos in just 7 months since its local launch. The hot-selling SUV has been available in three engine variants

Designing a perfect product for a big and diversified market like India is a task that's nearly impossible for most. Kia, however, seems to have cracked the code. Earlier, we reported that the carmaker has outperformed most car makers in India to become the third-biggest manufacturer in terms of monthly sales. The manufacturer sold 15,644 cars last month, out of which 14,024 units were of the Seltos.

With this new achievement, Kia also revealed that it has sold a total of 75,000 Seltos till date. The launch of the C-SUV took place 7 months ago, which means, the SUV has been around for over 3,06,720 minutes now. Jotting down these figures on paper and making some simple calculations reveals that Kia has sold a unit of Seltos every 4th minute. What this means is that the Seltos is quite a common sight on Indian roads now and is highly loved by the Indian audience. The car has surpassed the sales of smaller and cheaper compact SUVs and is also eating up the sales of larger mid-size crossovers. The numerous variants, multiple engine-gearbox options, and spacious and feature-loaded interior are the aspects to be credited for the car’s success.

The Kia Seltos is being sold with 3 engine and 4 transmission options. The smallest and most powerful unit of the lot is a 1.4L turbocharged petrol motor that produces 140 PS and 242 Nm as its max. output and can be had mated to either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT. The next on the list is a 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol motor that belts out 115 PS and 144 Nm. The transmission options offered with this petrol motor are a 6-speed stick shift and a 6-step CVT. The last on the list is a 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine that churns out a peak power output of  115 PS and a max. torque of 250 Nm, it can be had mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Kia is also set to launch its third product in the Indian market. It is expected to come around in the month of August. The new car from Kia will be the production version of the Sonet concept showcased at the recently concluded 2020 Auto Expo. Once launched, the Sonet is also expected to perform with a great pace on the sales chart, as the car would be the most stylish compact SUV in the Indian market.
