The Kia Seltos is a consistent top-selling product for the Korean automaker. But it has hit a hiccup as waiting periods for the Seltos has reached 4 months. Read on for further details.

The Kia Seltos made sure the Korean automaker got off to a successful start in the Indian market when it launched in August 2019. It dethroned both the Hyundai Creta and the MG Hector in sales figures, though Hyundai launched the new Creta a few months later and reclaimed the throne again. To celebrate 1 year of the Seltos being launched, it recently got an Anniversary Edition which got new features like a tusk shaped skid plate, tangerine accents on the rear bumper, side sill with tangerine accents, black 17-inch alloy wheels, and Black leather upholstery for a sportier appeal. It also offered dual-tone colours and a smart key with a remote engine starter button.

There was a time when the waiting period for a new Kia Seltos was only 15 days. But this was before the Covid-19 pandemic struck, and as lockdown eases and demand for the Seltos has increased, it’s failing to keep the waiting period short like before. Currently waiting period for the Seltos has reached up to 16 weeks, or 4 months for the diesel variants. Such a long waiting period is surprising as the SUV has been on sale for over a year now, and it doesn’t get better even if you want to buy a petrol Seltos instead.

The Kia Seltos GTX has the shortest waiting period time at 3-4 weeks currently. The GTX+ with the 7-speed DCT comes next, but more than doubles the waiting period to 10-11 weeks. For all models with the 1.5-litre petrol engine, the waiting period stretches up to 14-15 weeks or more than 3 months. Though less than the diesel models, it is still a considerable amount of waiting you will have to do. Kia hasn’t given an official statement for the reason behind such a long waiting period.
