The all-new Kia Sonet has been recently spied ahead of its official launch. It’ll compete with the likes of Hyundai Verna and Maruti Vitara Brezza.

The upcoming Kia Sonet will be the third product by the Korean automaker in the Indian market. The all-new sub-4-meter SUV will be making its world premiere on August 7, 2020. The concept model of the SUV was showcased earlier this year at the 2020 Auto Expo. Recently, the production-spec Sonet has been spied with a reduced camouflage, thereby revealing some of the styling elements of the production model. Like we just said, the spied unit is a top-spec GT Line model, complete with dual-tone alloy wheels, wide tires and an automatic transmission.

The new spy images reveal some of the styling details from which we are already familiar with. The rear end of the SUV features wraparound LED taillights connected through a thick red coloured reflector strip. The roof of the upcoming sub-compact SUV features a sporty looking spoiler with integrated stop lamp in the middle. The spy image you see above gives us a clear look at the sporty diamond-cut alloy wheels and satin-finished roof rails. Even the plastic cladding on the wheel arches is visible, albeit, the layer of dust it carries makes it slightly hard to spot.

Previously, the spy images have shown us how the windscreen at the back is slightly inclined and there's a rather strong kink in the rear quarter glass area. You can also find Kia badging in the middle of the tailgate and the rear bumper gets horizontal reflectors along with a faux silver-coloured skid plate.

The front fascia of the SUV is heavily camouflaged, but we expect it to look quite identical to that of the concept model. Talking about the Sonet concept, up front it gets LED headlamps along with integrated LED DRLs. The Tiger-nose front grille features contrast red inserts, which makes the SUV look sportier. Moreover, the front bumper will also have a sporty look and carry faux air scoops.

The second image you see here gives us the clearest-ever view of the interior. It's now clear that the production-spec Kia Sonet will feature the same steering wheel as the Seltos and will even have a digital instrument console. It will also have a large-screen infotainment system that will flank the digital instrumentation. As expected, the GT Line variant gets a black interior theme with contrasting red stitching on the upholstery. The spied unit features an automatic transmission but the steering column is devoid of paddle-shifters.

The all-new Kia Sonet will share the platform with the Hyundai Venue. The sub-4-meter SUV will be positioned below Seltos in the carmaker's line-up and will rub shoulders with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport. Mechanically, it’ll derive power from three different engine options, including - 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.0-litre three-pot turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre oil burner. These motors will be carried over from the Venue.
