Kia Sonet was recently showcased at the Auto Expo in its concept form and is expected to go on sale from August 2020.

Kia Sonet was previewed in its concept form at the recently concluding Auto Expo 2020. True to most design studies, the show car looks a tad outlandinsh but still managed to give us a hint of what the road-legal model would look like. The production model will likely launch in the coming months and will go on to rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue.

However, the car is going to be the third offering from the Korean carmaker in the Indian market. According to a report of our sister publication ‘Indian Autos Blog’, the Sonet will be launched in August this year. The manufacturer has not confirmed the launch date yet. Since Kia will be celebrating its first anniversary in India in the month of August, we expect the launch of the Sonet to be a part of this anniversary celebration.

The Sonet, in its production avatar, is expected to look identical to the concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. The upcoming Brezza rival is expected to carry forward the Tiger Eyeline LEDs seen on the concept to the production version. The sub-4m SUV will also feature the heartbeat LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels, connected LED tail lamps, full-LED headlamps, and ice-cube LED foglamps. With a raked C-pillar like that of the concept version, Sonet will have a distinctive appearance in the pool of compact SUVs.

Kia Sonet Is Expected To Go On Sale In August

Kia Sonet will look almost identical to the concept with similar design elements.

It will be based on the same platform as the Hyundai Venue, and will also have the same engine and gearbox options as its cousin. The 120 PS 1.0L turbo-petrol and the 83 PS 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engines of Venue will be on offer even on the Sonet. The diesel, however, is going to be a detuned version of Seltos’s 1.5L turbo-diesel. It will soon be seen doing duties on the Venue as well, much before the launch of Kia Sonet.
