Kia Sonet Official Sketches Revealed Prior To Its Official Launch Next Month

Recently, Kia has released some official sketches which reveal the aesthetics of the upcoming Kia Sonet. The production model of the upcoming sub-compact SUV will be based on the Hyundai Venue

Kia Motors India has released a handful of official skethes of the production-spec Sonet ahead of the world premiere on August 7. The upcoming sub-compact SUV is based on the Hyundai Venue and will go on to rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon, along with locking horns with its own donor sibling.

Speaking of the exterior, the Kia Sonet comes with a high-set bonnet, Tiger Nose grill which is typical of Kia, LED headlights with toothed LED DRLs and a front bumper which resembles the one on the concept model. On the side profile, the Kia Sonet features attractive alloy rims and a reverse-inclined C-pillar, which have also been carried over from the concept model. Dual-tone roof rails, black cladding and wraparound rear windscreen are utilized with a view to making the vehicle more SUV-ish. Generally, the exterior design of the Kia Sonet looks dynamic and muscular from all angles.

The interior design of the Kia Sonet has also been disclosed through the images. The infotainment system and the all-digital instrument cluster come with unibody housing. The South Korean automaker has also confirmed that the compact SUV will be equipped with a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is the largest one in the segment. Moreover, it also comes with an ambient lighting system. According to the spy images, the Sonet comes with an upright dashboard with rectangular air-conditioning vents which will certainly have a bold design, adding to the vehicle’s ruggedness. Different traction control and driving modes are also offered in the new SUV, which contributes to its convenience. The Sonet will come with only an FWD system.

As regards the powertrains, the Kia Sonet will be available with three engine options: an 83 PS 1.2-litre gasoline burner, a 120 PS 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor and a 100 PS 1.5-litre turbo diesel unit. The transmission duties of the SUV will be undertaken by a 5-speed MT, a 6-speed MT, a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT. Once launched in India, the new Sonet is likely to be priced at INR 8.00 lakh and compete against the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, etc.
