The all-new Kia Sonet has been caught running without camouflage on the Indian roads. Check out the details here.
The much-awaited Kia Sonet is all set to see its price announcement next month. Kia has recently accepted bookings for the new Sonet for a token amount of Rs 25,000 and the South Korean carmaker claims that they have received more than 6,500 pre-orders for the Sonet on the first day. While the Kia Sonet launch is almost around the corner, the all-new SUV has been caught driving on the roads sans camouflage. Do note that this is the first time the Kia Sonet has been spotted completely undisguised on the roads.
Shortly after the official unveiling of the Sonet, the features and variant-wise breakup of the Kia Sonet SUV has been leaked online through a brochure scan. The all-new sub-four-metre SUV by Kia will be developed on the same platform as the Hyundai Venue and in line with the earlier Kia cars, the upcoming Sonet will be packed with a long list of features, many of which are first in the segment.
The spy video shows a Kia Sonet HTX which is the top-spec variant of the Tech Line trim. Although the car has been recorded from the back most of the time, we can still see a certain amount of premium and aggression offered on the new vehicle. As per the video, the Kia Sonet features brilliant full-LED tail lamps while the LED light bar connected both tail lamps together is quite a modern trend for the SUV. However, the light bar doesn’t light up when the driver engages the brake.
Overall, the Kia Sonet looks fresh and stylish on the roads. With a distinctive design, the all-new Sonet is expected to garner a lot of eyeballs from the onlookers once it’s launched.
The upcoming Kia Sonet 2020 will be available with a range of engine and transmission options, just like the Hyundai Venue. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine mated to a manual transmission, along with a more powerful 1.0-litre turbo-petrol mill offered with a 6-speed MT, an iMT and a 7-speed DCT automatic option. There’s a 1.5-litre diesel burner that comes paired with automatic gearbox options as well.
For the very first time, buyers can avail ventilated front seats, smart air purifier, Bose speaker system, a massive 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system on a sub-four-metre SUV. The Sonet will also come with more premium features like electrically-controlled sunroof, 6 airbags, cruise control among many others. The Kia Sonet will be the brand’s third and most affordable product in the Indian space with its prices estimated at around Rs 8 – 13 lakh (ex-showroom).
