While the wait for the Kia Sonet launch is almost over, dealerships source have told us about the official price range of the Kia Sonet SUV for our market.
While the Kia Sonet will finally launch in the markat later today, we continue to uncover fresher details of the upcoming Kia Sonet compact SUV. Recently, we broke the news that the new Kia Sonet has reached its dealers, showing it’s all ready for the upcoming market launch. Also, in some other updates, we also reported you the fuel mileage figures of the Sonet car as well as the purported price list of the Maruti Vitara Brezza-rival. Now, through some dealerships source, we get to know that the market prices of Kia Sonet will be at around Rs 8 – 12 lakh (ex-showroom) upon launch.
You may or may not know, we’ve come across an official mail from the Customer Relations Department of Kia Motors India stating that the new Kia Sonet 2020 will be tentatively sold at the range of Rs 8 – 13 lakh that’s close to what the dealers say. As what we’ve repeatedly reported you, the Hyundai Venue-based Kia Sonet will join the battle against its donor car itself as well as the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser or Nissan Magnite.
Kia’s first compact SUV will be sold in two trim levels – Tech Line and GT Line like the Kia Seltos bigger sibling with the GT Line grade offering just one variant solely. The Sonet car will share three out of four engines with the Hyundai Venue including an 83 PS/113 Nm 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine mated to a 5-speed MT for the entry-level model along with a 120PS/172 Nm 1.0-litre turbo-petrol mill and a 100 PS/ 240 Nm 1.5-litre diesel burner available in the top-end trim.
These two latter engines will be had with multiple transmission options – a 6-speed iMT/ 7-speed DCT (for the turbo-petrol motor) and a 6-speed MT/ 6-speed AT (for the diesel-sipping unit). From these, the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine will be the most powerful of the lot. If the Kia Sonet price suggested by dealers are to be believed, we expect the base trim of the Sonet will be priced from Rs 8 lakh mark.
The new Sonet 2020 is said to be the most feature-rich compact SUV of the segment. The Kia Sonet interior will be equipped with a host of top-notch features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and UVO connected car tech, power sunroof, a digital instrument panel, ambient lighting, cruise control, smart cabin cooling and many others. Safety-wise, the Kia Sonet will be packed with 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, rear parking sensors with rear parking camera and more.
