Kia Sonet Reaches Dealers, Garners a Positive Response

Display units of Kia Sonet have started reaching Kia dealerships across the nation. Also, the crowd is going crazy for the upcoming compact-SUV, which is slated to launch on September 18.

Kia Sonet is the upcoming compact-SUV in the Indian market from the South-Korean carmaker. If media reports are to go by, Sonet will be launched on September 18 in the country. However, it has already started reaching the dealership and is receiving a warm response from the customers. Bookings for the Kia Sonet commenced on August 20 against a sum of Rs. 25,000. On the very first day itself, Sonet registered 6,523 bookings, which is the highest figure ever for any Kia car till date. Helping the Sonet attract a lot of prospective buyers are its multiple engine-gearbox options, long feature list, and a gorgeous design.

On the front, the Sonet gets a high-set bonnet with pronounced creases. Below which sits the Kia-signature tiger-nose grille, which is flanked by sleek LED headlamps on either side. Looking at it sideways, it gets diamond-cut alloy wheels, black body cladding, and a reverse-inclined C-pillar. At the rear, there’s a set of sleek LED tail lamps that are connected to each other via a reflector strip. Furthermore, it gets a diffuser at the lower-end, which gets two fake exhaust tips.

The interior of the Sonet is inspired by the bigger Seltos. It gets similar unibody housing for the instrument cluster and infotainment unit like the Seltos. Also, the steering wheel on the Sonet is a direct lift from its elder sibling along with a slew of buttons placed inside the cabin. Talking of the features, it gets an electric sunroof, wireless phone charging cradle, ventilated front seats, Bose sound system, all-digital instrument cluster, in-car air purifier, multi-drive modes with traction control, 6 airbags, TPMS, remote engine start and more.

Talking of the engine options, there are 3 on offer – 1.2L petrol, 1.0L turbo-petrol, and 1.5L diesel. The 1.2L motor is a 4-cylinder unit that puts out 83 PS/113 Nm and comes mated to a 5-speed stick shift gearbox. The 1.0L turbo-petrol, on the other hand, is capable of developing a rated output of 120 PS/172 Nm, and it can be had mated to either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT. The 1.5L oil burner is offered in two states of tunes – 100 PS/240 Nm and 115 PS/250 Nm. The transmission options for this engine include a 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT.
