Kia Motors India is all set to reveal the upcoming Sonet SUV on August 7. Once launched, it’ll compete with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Due to the countrywide lockdown and to promote social distancing, many automakers around the world have started unveiling and launching their new products online via webcast. This is the same way through which the Korean automaker Kia has plans to introduce the Sonet in the Indian market. On August 7th, Kia will make the global premiere of the Sonet SUV. Recently, from the shoot location of Kia Sonet premiere, someone posted a new Instagram picture of the SUV, thereby revealing the front fascia of the car. The Kia Sonet you see here is in red colour shade and features a blacked-out roof. The spy pic quickly got viral over the internet as it reveals the front facade of one of the most awaited cars of the year.

This picture shows the Sonet SUV getting officially ready to face the camera. In the picture, one can also see the map of India in the background. A camera person can also be seen in the image using multiple focus lights. The Kia personnel you see in the frame are wearing PPE Kits, which shows that the carmaker is taking full safety precautions. Right now in India, the automaker is only offering two products- namely Seltos (compact SUV) and Carnival (MPV). The upcoming Kia Sonet will be the most affordable vehicle in the carmaker’s stable. Once launched, it’ll rival with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport.

The production-spec Kia Sonet will employ ‘Tiger Nose’ grille upfront, silver-coloured faux skid plate and a sporty looking bumper. Illumination duties will be done by LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. The side profile of the SUV will employ blacked-out pillars, all black plastic cladding, sloping roofline and bold creases.

Mechanically, it’ll derive power from three different powertrain options- 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor. The same powertrain option does duties in the Hyundai Venue.
