Kia Sonet To Make Public Debut On 7th August

The Kia Sonet will make its public debut next month. The all-new Kia SUV will be available with three engine options - 2 petrol and 1 diesel

The production-spec Kia Sonet is all-set to make its public debut on 7th August 2020. The automaker will live stream its debut through a virtual event. As many of you may know, Kia first showcased the Sonet concept earlier this year at the 2020 Auto Expo. The upcoming Kia Sonet will be the third product by the Korean carmaker in the Indian market. Potential buyers can book the Kia sub-compact SUV a week after its public debut. One can expect the official price announcement of the car to happen in mid-September, 2020. In the carmaker’s stable, the upcoming model will sit below the Seltos and will locks horns with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport.

Reports suggest that the compact SUV is likely to be priced from Rs 8 lakh for the entry-level petrol trim and will go up to Rs 12 lakh for the top-spec diesel variant. The upcoming model will be the second car in our market to feature the iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission). The new clutchless manual gearbox ensures “an engaging driving experience" and a "high fuel-efficiency” in heavy traffic condition. The SUV will be powered by three different engine options- 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol. The engines will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed DCT. The powertrain options will be shared with the Hyundai Venue.

The automaker has already confirmed that the Sonet will be equipped wiht several segment-first features. That said, the official features list of the car is yet to be revealed by the carmaker. Inside, the SUV is expected to feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will be the largest in the segment. The unit will be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moreover, the car will also come loaded with features like premium Bose sound system, a sunroof, automatic climate control, start-stop button, wireless phone charging pad, keyless entry and much more.
