Kia Sonet will be the third product from the South Korean car manufacturer in the Indian automotive market. The upcoming SUV will be priced from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 13 lakh

Kia Motors just entered the market last year with the launch of the Seltos, which quickly gained instant success in the small SUV segment. Even on being one of the newest car brands, the South-Korean carmaker has become one of the important names in the Indian automobile market. After the Kia Seltos, the company introduced the Carnival. And in the comings months, it will launch the Kia Sonet, which will be priced from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 13 lakh.

Kia Sonet was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo earlier this year in a near-production form. The SUV was one of the highlights of the show. Thanks to the success of the Kia Seltos, the Sonet also receives great attention ahead of its launch. It is expected that the new SUV will go on sale in August. However, considering the current outbreak, it remains to be seen if the Sonet can be launched as per the original schedule.

With the Sonet, Kia will follow the same strategy used for the Kia Seltos. While the Kia Seltos shares substantial similarities with the Hyundai Creta, the Kia Sonet will have a lot in common with the Hyundai Venue. It is expected that this approach will help Kia Motors to replicate the success of the Kia Seltos for the Sonet. Even on sharing a lot in common with the Hyundai Venue, Kia will give the Sonet some distinct identity in terms of the exterior design.

Kia Sonet will share a lot in common with Hyundai Venue

Just like on the Hyundai Venue, the Kia Sonet will come with a host of advanced connectivity features. The upcoming SUV will get a UVO Connected apps system along with a segment-largest 10.25-inch touchscreen that gains apparent advantages over other vehicles in its class. Other features highlights of the Kia Sonet includes flat-bottom control-mounted steering wheels, sunroof, digital instrument cluster, sunroof, wireless charging system, ambient lighting, automatic climate control system, Bose audio system, and multiple driving modes.

Under the hood, Kia Sonet will come with the same engine options offered on the Venue. Those include 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbocharged GDI petrol motors. Both manual and automatic transmission options are expected on the Kia Sonnet. Once launched, the Kia Sonet will go on to rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon. A higher price tag, along with a comprehensive features list, should help Kia position the Sonet as a more premium offering than the Hyundai Venue.
