Kia Sonet Waiting Period Extends Upto 5 Months

With the increasing demand of the Kia Sonet, the waiting period for this Hyundai Venue-based model has increased to around 20 weeks for select variants.

Kia Sonet is the newest product from the South-Korean carmaker in the Indian market. It is offered in a total of 6 trim options and 5 engine-gearbox combinations. These multiple configurations have increased the accessibility of the Sonet for different type of buyers. Last month, Kia Sonet managed to garner a sales volume of 21,022 units to become the best-selling sub-4m compact-SUV of the country. With high demand in the market, the waiting period of the Sonet has also increased. As of now, the entry-level variants of the Sonet with the 1.2L Kappa motor have a waiting period of 18-19 weeks/4 months.

The situation remains nearly identical for the mid-spec diesel-automatic trims as well. However, it is the top-spec diesel trim – HTX that boasts of the longest waiting period of 20 weeks, which is equivalent to 4 months and 20 days. The top-spec turbo-petrol trims and the base-spec diesel variants, on the other hand, have the lowest waiting period of all trims. The Sonet is offered in two grades – Tech Line and GT Line. The latter is only offered with 1.0L turbo-petrol motor and the 1.5L oil burner, and it has a waiting period of around 4 months.

Kia Sonet boasts of a long feature list, which comprises of some best-in-segment features as well. It comes with a 10-25-inch infotainment unit with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, air purifier, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging pad, electric sunroof and more. On the safety front, the Sonet comes fitted with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belt alarm, high-speed notification, and rear parking camera with sensors.

As mentioned earlier, the Sonet is offered with three engine options – 83 PS 1.2L petrol, 120 PS 1.0L turbo-petrol, and 115 PS 1.5L oil burner. The transmission options on the Sonet include a 5-speed MT, 6-speed MT, 6-speed AT, and 7-speed DCT. Prices of the Sonet start at Rs. 6.71 lakh and tops out at Rs. 12.99 lakh. With these prices, the Sonet rivals the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and more.
