Kia Sorento SUV Might Enter Indian Market Next Year

Kia Motors is the rising star of the Indian automotive market. With only two launches, the South Korean car manufacturer has garnered a great sales volume and a large following. After the Kia Seltos and Carnival, Kia is gearing up toward the launch of the new sub-four-meter SUV Kia Sonet.

A few days ago, Kia Motors hold the world premiere for the upcoming Kia Sonet.  India will be among the first country to get this new SUV. Kia Sonet will come with a host of premium technologies and features in order to draw the customers' attention. With the Kia Sonet and the Kia Seltos, Kia Motors expects to create a strong presence in the SUV segment. The SUV segment is regarded as the hottest space in the market with growing popularity. For this reason, it is not a bad idea for Kia Motors to build a strong portfolio around this segment. It is highly possible that Kia will expand its SUV range with a premium SUV. Kia Sorento is an option that can fill this gap in the SUV’s line-up.

If launched in India, Kia Sorento will take on the likes of Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, Skoda Karoq, Volkswagen T-Roc as well as the upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross. In the international market, the out-going Kia Sorento was launched earlier this year in March. The Indian market is most likely to get this version with some small updates to fit Indian customers’ taste.

Kia Sorento would be a good option for Indian market 

According to Kia’s timeline, a new vehicle will be launched in every 6 months. Since the Kia Sonet will make it to the market this month, the next two models will be launched next year. Kia Sorento could be introduced in late 2021.

About the exterior, the existing Kia Sorento features a larger chrome-garnished Tiger nose front grille, sleek LED headlamps with LED DRLs, revised front bumper and fog lights, and shorten overhangs. To the rear end, there are a wider air inlet, vertically stacked LED tail lamps, and restyled rear bumper along with a SORENTO wording engraved on the boot lid.

On the inside, the Kia Sorento is loaded with a large 10.12-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dashboard with high-quality materials, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital display for instrument cluster system.

About the powertrain, Kia Sorento receives power from a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine and a 44.2 kW electric motor. This drivetrain can deliver a combined power output of 230 PS and 350 Nm.
