Kia SP2i Interior Sketches Revealed, Gets 10.25-inch Touchscreen

Kia Motor is going to launch the first vehicle in India on June 20. Ahead of its launch, Kia has teased some sketch images of the upcoming SP2i’s through social media. The latest teaser has shed lights on the design of the Kia SP2i interior.

Kia has created a futuristic interior design for the SP2i. To give an impression of cutting-edge design, Kia has limited the use of physical buttons and replaced them with touch-sensitive buttons or touchscreen. As a result, the touchscreen deriving from the Telluride SUV in North America market will be at the centre stage of almost every activity on the dashboard. Kia has brought up a massive floating touchscreen that would allow easy control over the whole system. MG Hector, Kia SP2i’s rival also sports a huge 10.4-inch centre console touchscreen system, however, Hector’s unit is put vertically. Moreover, the futuristic interior element like a full-digital instrument cluster is seen on the sketch. Under the touchscreen is a digital panel together with a single rotary knob which is supposed to control the climate control system.

Kia has revealed the sketch of the Kia SP2i interior for the first time 

It is expected that Kia SP2i will use very high-quality material for the dashboard. Also, advanced technologies will be equipped on the touchscreen system, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, full-view camera, voice control and more. Even the details of the interior features are not revealed yet, it is expected to come with premium fitments like eight colour ambient lighting, heads-up display, automatic climate control system, ventilated seats, and wireless charging. Revealed on the sketch, SP2i will get a three-spoke steering wheel. More details of the safety and driving assist features will be unveiled when the launch date approaches.

Kia SP2i is likely to come with a large touchscreen and wide use of digital display

The interior will come with a dual tone colour scheme of black and beige colour. Possibly, the dashboard will be inserted with wood-faux finish along with lighter-toned elements on the door and seats. It seems that the faux brushed-aluminium dash will also be featured on the door pad, around the air ventilation and the centre console, which gives a boost to the premium look of the SP2i.

About the powertrain options, the SP2i will come with two engines, 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine.  These engines will come with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. It is speculated that there will be also an automatic option available as the interior is seen with a paddle shifters on the sketch. At launch, it will rival the Kia SP, MG Hector, Tata Harrier and Nissan Kicks as well as Renault Captur.
