The Hyundai Creta-rivalling Kia SP2i will command a slight premium over its rivals due to the several premium features it will offer. The official launch will take place in late 2019.

The SP concept-based Kia SP2i will be introduced in India sooner or later. Two days ago, the production version of the Kia SP2i revealed in the exclusive spy images while undergoing road testing in New Delhi.

The brand new Kia SP2i will undercut the Hyundai Creta to join in the premium SUV segment

Expected to be showcased globally at the upcoming New York International Motor Show 2019, the Kia SP2i is gauging many onlooker’s attention regardless of being largely covered in heavy camouflage. That said, the SUV will sit on the higher-budget premium offering in the segment with a bunch of segment-leading features under the way.

In terms of aesthetic design, the Kia SP2i will hand over a bolder and more modern stance. The front-rear and side fascias of the car carry some lavish add-on elements such as the Multi-tier lighting setup, signature Tiger Nose as well as segment-leading tyre size and wheel arches in a dull blue-grey finish. In the immediate future, the South Korean-based automotive company will even roll out a sportier version with a styling body kit.

The Kia SP2i production name is yet to be known, but it is more likely to be called "Kia Trazor"

On the inside, the Kia SP2i offers will an abundance of roominess, good enough for five occupants. A lot of segment-first interior features are kitted out inside the cabin including a big infotainment touchscreen, a 360-degree camera, in-car connect with WiFi and wireless smartphone charging. Furthermore, the forthcoming Kia SUV is even equipped with a HUD, all-digital information display, ambient lighting and the paddle-shifters exclusive for the automatic variant.

Power wise, the Kia SP2i is likely to receive the power output from the BSVI-compliant 1.5-litre gasoline and diesel engine. Both the two burners will be available with a 6-speed MT as standard while the petrol option might come coupled with an optional automatic unit.

The expected launch timeline of the Kia SP2i is during the second half of 2019, presumably in July. The estimated price range of the SUV will stand at around INR 10- 16 Lakh (ex-showroom, India). When it comes, it will be more likely to lock horns with the similar versions of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier, Renault Captur, etc. in the country.
