Kia’s upcoming SP2i subcompact SUV might share the same platform with the Hyundai Venue along with other premium features.

Kia Motors is gearing toward their debut in the India market with the Kia SP2i. The compact SUV SP2i is developed from the SP Concept that first appeared at the 2018 Auto Expo. The upcoming subcompact SUV from Kia will be the embodiment of the Korean automobile brand’s new design language. Besides, the interior of the Kia SP2i is promised to come with the well-equipped interior. Kia is also expected to introduce some premium features from its global flagship Telluride on the subcompact Kia SP2i.

Kia SP2i might share some features with the newly-launched Hyundai Venue

Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and Nissan Kicks will be Kia SP2i’s main rivals when it enters India market. Apart from these names, Kia SP2i also has to face competition from the newly launched MG Hector which is also the first car of the British marque. Both of the new cars are promised to feature advanced connectivity technology. Therefore, the fierce clash between these two models is expected.

Kia Motor is targeting at becoming the fifth largest car brand in the India market. To achieve this ambiguous plan, the South Korean car manufacturer is planning to sweep the market with a new launch every six months. And this scheme will start from the debut of the SP2i toward the end of 2022.

It is also possible that Kia will introduce their iteration of the sub-four-meter SUV Venue from its mother company Hyundai. Aggressively priced right at the beginning, Hyundai Venue has met an overwhelmingly positive response from the market. This model comes with a wide range of powertrain options including two petrol motor and one diesel engine. It would make sense if Kia follows Hyundai’s successful formula for the Venue.

Kia Motors is likely to follow Hyundai's strategy for the Venue

Projecting from Hyundai's success, it is possible that Kia will replicate the strategy that Hyundai has applied for their models, for example, the competitive pricing and appealing technology equipment. High-level localisation and car part borrowing are also some effective solutions for Kia.

We could expect Kia to introduce some top-notch technologies of the Venue on their new SUV, for example, the large HD touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, embedded SIM, satellite navigation, voice recognition, engine start-stop button, cruise control, and reverse parking camera with guidelines.
