In the wake of the SP2i-concept-based SUV scheduled to come in September 2019, two new Kia cars are reckoned to be introduced to us sometime in 2020.

With three-lakh annual production capacity, Kia holds a range of new car launches on the horizon. The South Korean-owned carmaker, Kia Motors is preparing all set to launch its first SUV model based on the SP concept in the Indian auto market by late 2019. Other than that, Kia also unveiled its future plan with two new car launches within one year to come.

A couple of months since Kia first showcased the SP concept at the 2018 Auto Expo, its production-ready version is on the cards to come to the Indian space in September 2019 and expected to rival against the likes of the already-launched Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks, Renault Captur and Hyundai Creta. The imminent compact premium SUV is more than likely to make a big jump in the market. As per the automotive company, the upcoming SP concept-based premium SUV is targeted to obtain 85-90 per cent of major buying cities in India right from the start thanks to the company’s massive marketing-selling network.

In fact, Kia Motors has an action-packed year with the commencement of numerous roadshows at the last edition of the Auto Expo 2018 in order to grasp the public interests from dealers as well as customers. The South Korean Hyundai’s sibling, in actuality, gets a long-term plan for the right-hand drive markets with more than 1 billion USD investment in new Anantapur facility built in Andhra Pradesh.

In particular, it has also been confirmed by the manufacturers that two brand vehicles are in the pipeline to hit the dealers in 2020. One is reported to be a Hyundai Elite i20’s rival-crossover/hatchback that is highly expected to be the Rio, the car has been retailed in the global markets for a due course of time. The second expected Kia car is an MPV slotted above the Toyota Innova Crysta. Apart from the Mercedes-Benz V-Class recently launched in January 2019, the Indian enthusiasts have a limited range of option for a spacious family vehicle. The German counterpart meanwhile sits on the higher-budget segment that won’t, certainly, be able to reach the massive customers. Hence it will be a big Kia Motors' effort to strengthen its portfolio and create a new era of great dominance in the passenger/ family car segment.

Heavy localization is, on the other hand, under Kia’s reflection to the keep the cost of its Indian-spec three strong vehicles in check. While having retained a vigorous honour for being superior and luxurious cars with state-of-the-art tech, Kia cars are confronted to a huge challenge of building an immense connect with the Indian customers and providing monumental aftermarket services in the country.
