Land Cruiser Prado-inspired Toyota Fortuner (Facelift) Imagined Digitally

2020 Toyota Fortuner (facelift) could feature a highly updated front-end with Land Cruiser Prado-inspired headlights.

As has been the nature of most mid-cycle updates, the Toyota Fortuner could receive most of the changes at its front-end. It’s expected that the refreshed version will carry a pair of LED headlamps similar in visual appeal to the Land Cruiser Prado. Also, the SUV is expected to get a bigger upper grille, new fog lamps and an updated bumper. The side profile could get a design change for the mag rims, while the rear is likely to be offered with updated taillamps and a tweaked bumper.

The interior of the Toyota Fortuner facelift is unlikely to receive any major styling tweaks. Changes for the cabin could be limited to an upholstery change and a stricter NVH package. Moreover, the India-spec T-Ford could finally receive an updated touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. While these smartphone connectivity options are available on the international-spec model, the Indian version is devoid of these.

On the mechanical side of things, the updated Toyota Fortuner could come equipped with a more powerful version of the current 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The current transmission options, which include 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque-converter automatic units, will be carried over to the refreshed model. In its current state, the aforementioned oil-burner, which recently received its BSVI update, offers a maximum of 177hp at 3,400 rpm. Peak torque output is rated 420 Nm at 1,400-2,600 rpm for the MT and 450 Nm at 1,600-2,400 rpm for AT.

The new look Toyota Fortuner (facelift0 could launch in the last quarter of the current calendar year. Prices will most likely witness a slight increment.
