Maruti Jimny is likely to be launched in December. The production of the Jimny is likely to kick off in May.
In a recent report, there is speculation that Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Gurgaon will be responsible for manufacturing the Maruti Jimny. On the other hands, other sources claim that it is likely that the new off-roader will be produced in Sanand, Gujarat. Regardless of the production location, in all likelihood, Suzuki Jimny will hit the market by December this year as the new Maruti Gypsy.

In India, the Jimny is codenamed as YWD. The India-spec Jimny is expected to be a 5-door, longer version with the length measuring above 4000mm. In Maruti’s plan, there will be around 4,000 to 5,000 units of this off-roader to roll out of its manufacturing facility in India each month. The production of the Jimny (aka new Maruti Gypsy) will kick off this May. Apart from the Indian market, a number of the Jimny produced in India will be exported to other markets as well.
