American automaker Jeep had confirmed a few weeks ago that it will unveil the locally assembled 2021 Wrangler on March 15. But due to “some organizational priorities”, the launch was delayed to March 17. Well, the American carmaker has finally launched the locally assembled Jeep Wrangler in the country today at a starting price of Rs. 53.90 lakh. The carmaker has started the 2021 Wrangler’s assembly at its Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra.

The Jeep Wrangler will now be coming to India as a CKD unit, unlike the CBU units that are were being dispatched before which made the 4x4 very expensive due to taxes. The entry-level variant of the CBU Wrangler was priced at Rs 63.94 lakh, ex-showroom. But despite such a high price Jeep India kept getting regular inquiries from interested buyers. Hence, bringing the new Wrangler in kits and assemble in India made sense for the automaker as it will help them bring down the price of the SUV a fair bit. Now, the prices for the Unlimited and Rubicon variants are Rs. 53.90 lakh and Rs. 57.50 lakh, respectively.

The Wrangler comes loaded with features like remote engine start, keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and a 7-inch part-digital instrument cluster. The centre-console gets an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay and an Alpine premium audio system. The Wrangler also come with the latest safety features like a tire pressure monitoring system, hill start assist, hill descend control, electronic roll-over mitigation, electronic stability control, and four airbags. There is also a reversing camera with rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, and trailer sway control on board.
