Made In India Maruti S-Presso Reaches Egypt

The Indian car market is more vivid than any other currently present on this earth. There's a huge demand for all types of SUVs in the country. The compact SUV space, C-segment SUVs, and the large ladder-frame 4wds - all have been enjoying the attention of the consumers. However, the entry-level hatchback segment is the biggest here but surely underrated in comparison to the SUV space. Betting big on both of these segments, Maruti launched the SUV-inspired S-Presso last year and now, the small car is on sale in Egypt.

The Maruti S-Presso is launched in Egypt at a starting price of Rs. 6.98 lakh.

In Egypt, the S-Presso will be retailed under the Suzuki trademark. It is priced at 145,000 Egyptian Pound, equivalent to Rs. 6.98 lakh. The S-Presso is exported to Egypt with identical specifications as the Indian version of the car. It measures 3,565 mm in length, 1,520 in width, and 1,564 mm in height. The S-Presso gets a decently long wheelbase for its size, measuring at 2,380mm and a ground clearance of 180 mm. The S-Presso offers a boot capacity of 240 L, which can be extended by folding down the rear seat.

The car is technically and mechanically a small entry-level hatchback. Since it ticks all the right boxes, Maruti has now started exporting this minuscule SUV (small hatchback with SUV styling) to the Egyptian market now. To power the front wheels, it gets a 1.0L K-series 3-cylinder petrol motor that belts out a peak power output of 67 PS at 5,500 RPM and max. torque of 90 Nm at 3,500 RPM. It is offered with 2 gearbox options in India – 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT, while in Egypt, it will only be offered with a 5-speed MT. On the safety front, the Egyptian model will get front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard affair across the range.

Maruti S-Presso CNG Unveiled at Auto Expo 2020 (Hindi)

In India, the Maruti S-Presso is offered as a decently feature loaded car. It gets a 7-inch SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, steering mounted audio controls, power windows, seat belt reminder, high-speed alerts, rear parking sensors, headlamp levelling switch, LED DRLs, power steering, AC with heating and blower function, and an all-digital instrument cluster. However, Suzuki has not confirmed what all features might go for a toss on the Egyptian model.
