Mahindra will launch the Atom by the end of 2020. The electric quadricycle was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 early this year.

From the past few years, Mahindra has been quite dynamic with its strategy to serve different sections of the Indian automobile market. The automaker introduced the Mahindra Marazzo (design by Pininfarina) and SsangYong Tivoli based XUV300. Nevertheless, early this year at the Auto Expo 2020, the carmaker showcased an electric quadricycle named as Atom, which is a new form of transportation. Moreover, this is not the very first quadricycle of India because that title belongs to Bajaj Qute. The carmaker showcased the Atom at the expo to promote green mobility and to show spectators that they are electrifying every form of transportation. It was displayed in a near-production form.

The manufacturer has not revealed a lot about the vehicle, but we already know that the upcoming electric quadricycle will not boast of power figures higher than 15 kW. Also, Mahindra Atom will not have a top speed of more than 70 kmph. Check out our video embedded below to know how practical the upcoming Mahindra Atom is. As compared to another quadricycle offered in the Indian market- Bajaj Qute, Mahindra Atom is quite spacious and offers a different seating layout for 4 passengers (including the driver). The car manufacturers are now focusing more on quadricycles as they’ve plans to replace auto-rickshaws. Talking about its looks, upfront the Mahindra Atom gets flat van-like face, squarish headlamps and Mahindra badging.

The automaker has tried to keep its design language simple, but it still manages to look quite stylish. Inside, the seating layout seems to be quite weird. The front row only features a single seat for the driver and the second row gets a single-piece bench to accommodate 3 passengers at once. Moreover, the driver seat is also placed in an off-set manner. The doors of the Mahindra Atom are not positioned symmetrically either. The all-new Mahindra Atom is expected to hit the Indian market by the end of this year and it’ll be the only electric quadricycle in the country.
