Mahindra eKUV100 Launched at Auto Expo 2020 - India's cheapest EV

Mahindra has launched the eKUV100 in India at Auto Expo 2020. To recap, the Mahindra eKUV100 concept was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2018, previewing the arrival of an affordable electric car for India.

Due to benefits from the FAME Scheme, the Mahindra eKUV100 is now on sale at the introductory price of Rs 8.25 Lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). Bookings for the new EV will open in March while the deliveries will be implemented in April.

The new Mahindra eKUV100 looks much like the IC-engine version from the outside, save for some cosmetic tweaks at the front, rear and alloy wheels. The electric car gets a host of interior features like multifunction steering, the infotainment touchscreen available with smartphone connectivity and connected car tech. The on-board computers on the eKUV100 enable remote door lock/ unlock, remote diagnostics, vehicle’s location tracking, cabin pre-cooling, and some updates on the battery status.

The all-new eKUV100 is powered by a 40 kW electric motor that churns out 55 PS of power and 120 Nm of torque. The liquid-cooled 15.9 battery propels the electric car with a claimed range of 150 km per a single charge and can be charged from 0 – 80 per cent in 60 minutes on a fast charger or 5 hours 45 minutes via the regular charger.

Being the most affordable electric vehicle, the Mahindra eKUV100 will rival other models in the EV segment including Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming EV once it’s launched in the country. For more updates on Auto Expo 2020, keep following IndianAuto.
