Mahindra’s newest super-compact EV, Dubbed ATOM, will come into production in the H2 of 2020. Read ahead for more details.
Mahindra has revealed its super-compact electric car called the ATOM at the ongoing Auto Expo 2020. Positioned as an electric Quadricycle, the Mahindra Atom EV aims to replace the auto-rickshaws as a viable urban mobility solution in India.
The ATOM's cube-shaped appearance is extremely polarizing. It sports very compact dimensions except for its height, thus helping liberate an adequate amount of space on the inside. The car comes with a massive windscreen and large glass area, thus giving the EV good visibility and an airy feel as well. However, the small wheels and tyres make the tall ATOM look a bit quirky and plain indeed.
As claimed by the Mumbai-based company, the all-new ATOM boasts of the agility of a three-wheeler along with a safe enclosure for its passengers due to the monocoque body construction. The interior space should be the main highlight of the EV’s cabin but the rest seems very bare bones. However, the ATOM impresses us with the 4G-ready connectivity system on offer. The displayed model even features air-con, mobile docking station together with the entertainment display for the rear passengers.
All we know about the new Mahindra ATOM's mechanical options is an electric powertrain option. Details on the same along with the prices and launch timeline of the car are still scarce but IndianAuto will update it immediately once we get the relevant info.
Currently, the biggest rival of the Mahindra ATOM is the Bajai Qute that is priced at around Rs 2.48 – 2.78 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). For more updates about the ongoing Auto Expo, keep following IndianAuto.
