Mahindra Thar Signature Edition To Get Two Exterior Colours

Launched back in 2010, Mahindra Thar is one of the most popular off-roader models in India. However, as the current version of the Thar is not qualified for the new crash test, the Thar will be stopped from manufacturing by October 2019. But it will not be long until we reunite with this capable off-roader because the Mahindra has planned on launching the new-gen Thar in 2020. Before the second-gen Thar arrives, Mahindra has filled the space with a special edition called Signature Edition. This version of the Thar basically inherits the interior and exterior of the current models with some minor twists. However, the Thar will score high in terms of safety features in response to the new crash test requirements.

Mahindra Thar Signature Edition will come with two colour themes

Mahindra Thar Signature Edition is produced in a limited number – there will be only 700 units that come into two colour schemes, Napoli Black and Aqua Marine. These colours are also seen on the MPV Marazzo launched last year.

About the design, the Thar Signature Edition gets the same 15-inch alloy wheels used on the old Scorpio. Exteriorly, the design will spice up a bit with Marksman black decals inserted on the tailgate. The front bumper also gets a touch of silver. Additionally, a new Signature Edition badge and signature of Mahindra’s chairman Anand Mahindra on the fender are the new highlight of the exterior.

On the inside, Mahindra Thar Signature Edition now gets leatherette upholstery and forward facing rear seats. With regard to the new safety standard, this special edition will come with more safety features including ABS and airbags. Moreover, it is promised to bring a larger interior space.

Mahindra Thar Signature Edition will bring forward the 2.5-litre CRDe diesel engine

Under the hood, the Mahindra Thar will come exclusively with the 2.5-litre CRDe diesel engine that makes 105 BHP and 247 Nm. The other engine, 2.5-litre M2DICR diesel engine, could not make it to the new special version.

Even though this special version has provided a temporary replacement for the first-gen Thar, Mahindra will soon launch the second generation of this off-roader. It is likely to make its first appearance at the Auto Expo 2020.
