Mahindra Verito, Verito Vibe, Xylo and NuvoSport Discontinued – BS6 Effect

Due to the stringent BSVI emission standards, we have to say farewell to some of the vehicles which have not been upgraded to meet the new norms. Mahindra & Mahindra has recently provided its popular vehicles including the BS6 Mahindra Scorpio, BS6 Mahindra Bolero and KUV100 NXT with BS6 updates and discontinued some of its ageing models simultaneously. Mahindra Verito, Verito Vibe, Mahindra Xylo and Mahindra Nuvosport are the vehicles that have failed to make it to the BSVI era.

“We have to meet BS-VI in all of our products. We have already made a decision on dropping some products when we go to BS-VI, which are low volume products. And we have to invest in all the safety regulations that are coming in and therefore there is no letting up of investment in those areas”, said Mahindra & Mahindra’s Managing Director, Dr Pawan Goenka in an earlier interview.

Mahindra Verito and Verito Vibe were offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine tuned to produce 65 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque. Transmission duties on both cars were handled by a 5-speed manual transmission. Mahindra Xylo made use of two diesel motors including a 2.2-litre mHawk and a 2.5-litre mDi CRDe unit.

While the former was good for 120 PS/ 280 Nm of torque, the latter acquired a maximum power of 95 PS and a peak torque of 218 Nm. Both the mills were paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox only. Lastly, the Mahindra NuvoSport came with a 1.5-litre diesel burner that developed 100 PS of max power and 240 Nm of max torque. Transmission options for the NuvoSport comprised of a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT unit.

Speaking of the company’s future plan, Mahindra is gearing up for the launches of 2020 Mahindra Thar which is due to happen in the coming months. Besides, the home-grown carmaker will bring in a mid-life update for the Mahindra Alturas G4 that is currently the most expensive model in the lineup. The Mahindra XUV300 Sportz and the electric version of XUV300 are in the pipeline as well.
