Mahindra XUV300 AMT has been recently spotted during its TVC shoot.

The standard Mahindra XUV300 was introduced in February as the latest sub-four-metre SUV from the home-grown automaker. The subcompact SUV has been so far available with a 110 HP 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and a 117 HP 1.5-litre diesel mill, both of which are offered with only a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. Now, Mahindra is all set to bring on a Magnetti Marelli-sourced AMT unit for the XUV300’s diesel engine option that should be launched before the end of this month.

With the introduction of an automatic variant, the Mahindra XUV300 will stand in the league of its competitors including the Maruti Vitara Brezza with a five-speed AMT as well as the Tata Nexon with a 6-speed AMT unit for both its configurations. On the other hand, the Ford Ecosport employs a 6-speed automatic transmission for its petrol engine variant. The newly-launched Hyundai Venue gets the most advanced 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.

It remains to confirm which variants in the XUV300’s line-up to make use of the AMT option. In all likelihood, it might be offered on the mid-spec W6 trim upwards and not the entry-level W4 variant. The upcoming Mahindra XUV300 AMT is expected to get a higher price mark that should require a premium of Rs 50,000 over the manual version.
