Mahindra XUV300 AMT Will Be Offered In Both Petrol and Diesel Engine Variants

Mahindra is set to launch the all-new XUV 300 in the Indian market in February 2019, with both petrol and diesel engine options on offer.

Previously in December 2018, the official interior sketch of the Mahindra XUV 300 has been revealed, in which, AMT option was said to be on offer. Besides, in line with that revelation, Rajan Wadhera, President, Mahindra & Mahindra (Automotive), has published the very first information of the car model.

"The automatic product (AMT) is in the works, and it will be launched shortly." 

Notably, he also revealed that the AMT option would come with both petrol and diesel engine.

As per reports, Mahindra will bring on the Magneti Marelli-sourced AMT unit in the XUV300 in the near future. Mahindra has outsourced Automated Manual Transmissions from Ricardo which is a UK-based supplier so far. This is also seen on the NuvoSport and the TUV300.

Referred others, XUV300’s fierce rivals which are Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza have featured AMTs from Magneti-Marelli as well.

In a plan of Mahindra, the AMT gearbox for the XUV300 will soon be altered by an Aisin-sourced torque converter automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the engines will also be upgraded to meet the BSVI emission norm requirements in 2020.

The Mahindra XUV300 will come with two turbocharged engine options which are 

  • 1.5-litre diesel engine

  • 1.2-litre petrol engine

In which, the former can develop 110 BHP and 200 Nm of torque, meanwhile, the latter can churn out 115 BHP and 300 Nm of torque. All that mentioned are mated to only a 6-speed manual transmission. The ARAI-certified fuel economy rates at 17 km/l (petrol)/20 km/l (diesel).

As for the all-electric variant, it is scheduled to be introduced in the second half of 2020. The zero-emission model is claimed to go with two powertrain options. In which, the top-spec trim is expected to be replete with a 380-volt system. This advanced tech was jointly developed by Ssangyong and Mahindra Electric Mobility Ltd.

This new Maruti Vitara Brezza rival is feature-rich with a long list of equipment as standard referred in the table. Notably, the top-spec W8 (O) grade will be packed with more advanced features which provide the customers with the best comfort and safety.
