Mahindra XUV300 is currently available only with a manual transmission. However, Mahindra is planning to introduce the automatic version in the near future. Here is the latest spy picture of the upcoming variant

Following the launch of the Mahindra XUV300 in February, the company is now planning to introduce its automatic transmission version. The launch of the automatic model should further help the compact SUV find more buyers. Last month, the model ranked second on the sales chart of its segment, outperforming Tata Nexon and Ford Ecosport. It is expected that the addition of the automatic version to the range will significantly reinforce Mahindra XUV300’s status in its class.

Mahindra XUV300 Automatic will soon make its way to the market

Mahindra XUV300 Automatic was recently spotted undergoing road testing in Gurgaon. It seems that the automatic XUV300 isn't too far from its launch. Reportedly, Mahindra will introduce a 5-speed AMT unit that will come from the TUV300. It is likely that Mahindra will offer the optional automatic gearbox in both diesel and petrol engine. At the moment, there are two engine options for the Mahindra XUV300- 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine could produce a maximum power of 110 hp and a peak torque of 200 Nm while the diesel engine is good for 115 hp and 300 Nm. Both of them are paired to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Mahindra XUV300 is going to get a new 5-speed AMT gearbox soon

Mahindra XUV300 shares its X100 platform with the SsangYong Tivoli. The sub-four compact segment is a very competitive space. Therefore, Mahindra has equipped the XUV300 with a slew of first-in-the-segment features like the dual-zone climate control, sunroof, heated exterior mirror and four-wheel disc brakes. The fully-loaded feature package has gained the XUV300 a bonus point over other competitors in its space. However, as the sub-four-meter segment will soon welcome a new member in the form of the Hyundai Venue, things could get a tad tougher for the XUV300. So, it’s actually a good time for Mahindra XUV300 to play the automatic card.
