Although the Nexon EV will could enjoy the first mover advantage for being the first EV in its segment, the Mahindra XUV300 EV could steal the limelight away with better specifications. Dubbed eXUV300, this model is slated for launch in the second half of 2021.

The production-spec Mahindra XUV300 EV is claimed to have a travel range of more than 370 km per charge, perhaps on the long-range variant. Besides, an affordable standard variant will also likely to be available and this one will target the private car space. The Mahindra eXUV300 is underpinned by the MESMA 350 (Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture), which is a 350 Volt EV system which can support electric motors with power from 60 kW to 280 kW and maximum battery capacities of 80 kWh. This system can also utilize a two-motor layout. It has been developed totally in-house; therefore, the models which are supported by this system are expected to be aggressively priced.

With a travel rage of more than 370 km per charge, the Mahindra eXUV will surpass Tata Nexon EV in terms of this figure. The latter has an ARAI-certified travel range of 312 km. Nevertheless, the figure of the Mahindra eXUV has been claimed by the company and this may differ from the ARAI one. The exact mechanical specifications will be informed at its official launch.
