The internal launch of the most-awaited Mahindra XUV300 was conducted yesterday.

Ahead of the Mahindra XUV300’s commercial launch scheduled on February 14, 2019, the home-grown carmaker has just organized the internal launch at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai. As far as it’s concerned, the XUV300 is certainly Mahindra’s darnedest to fare against the B-segment Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford Ecosport. Sharing the X100 platform with the Korea-spec SsangYong Tivoli, the all-new Mahindra XUV300 is confirmed to be the widest SUV in Mahindra’s SUV portfolio. However, the car is much smaller when compared to the South Korean sibling with the length curbed to 4 metres to avoid higher taxation. The front and rear aesthetics of the XUV300 is totally different to the Korean offering with the inclusion of premium and sporty spirit.

Under the hood, Mahindra works on two engine options of the new Mahindra XUV300 B-SUV- the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel variants. The gasoline burner is a newly developed 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo engine tuned for 200 Nm of torque while the oil burner is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged unit that comes to deliver a colossal torque figure of 300 Nm units. These engines send the power output to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. An automated manual transmission is also on the way to make its presence at a later stage.
