Mahindra XUV300 Rally-spec Model Revealed

Rally-spec Mahindra XUV300 will replace the Super XUV500 to be the Mahindra’s challenger for the national championship.

Mahindra and Mahindra has just introduced the rally version of the Mahindra XUV300, which will be competing in the 2019 Indian National Rally Championship. Racy Mahindra XUV300 will replace the Super XUV500 that has been the brand’s challenger in the recent championships. The new vehicle is expected to deliver a sharper and stronger performance than the Super XUV500. The first race for the rally-spec Mahindra XUV300 will kick off in Chennai on June 28.

The rally-spec Mahindra XUV300s are rally-prepped by the rallying team Arka Motorsport. Two models are chosen to participate in the national racing championship. The first one is a petrol engine which will be driven by Gaurav Gill. This vehicle is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged motor. The other is a diesel car which receives power from a 1.5-litre turbo engine. Amittarajit Ghosh will take the wheel of this diesel-powered rallying car. On the stock version, the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine develops a maximum power of 115 Bhp and 300 Nm while the petrol engine is capable of outputting 110 PS and 200 Nm.

The diesel rally-spec Mahindra XUV300 is powered by the same diesel engine as the stock version. However, an engine remap has been used to make the model race-ready. It also comes with a bigger turbocharger and revised intake as well as the exhaust system. The 6-speed manual box remains. The petrol-powered model gets JK tyres while the Ghosh’s diesel model comes with MRF tyres. To make the rally-spec model look unlike the regular model, the exterior styling features some updates, including new camos, new alloy wheels. Inside the car, certain adjustments are made to provide the best driving condition for the racers. New bucket rally seats and a new unit of the steering wheel will be available on the rally-spec Mahindra XUV300. Meanwhile, the stock version of Mahindra XUV300 is due to soon receive a new automatic version. Mahindra XUV300 will be available with a six-speed AMT unit on the diesel model only. The price of the diesel-AMT powertrain version is expected to be higher than its manual counterpart by Rs 50,000.
