Mahindra and Ford have participated in a joint venture in the Indian auto market. Under this partnership, a wide range of new models can be expected in the foreseeable future including the new-gen Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV500, according to rumours. While Ford India has always been well-known for producing driving-oriented cars, Mahindra is famous for petrol and diesel motors. As the demand for SUVs is increasing in the market, both of the SUVs are developing a brand-new mid-size SUV to rival their formidable competitors: Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Every model from the joint venture would be branded Mahindra or Ford, depending on which one introduces it first.

Under the joint venture, BS6-compliant Mahindra motors in Ford platforms for export to other markets like European ones. Pawan states that the three motors, 1.2-litre, 1.5-litre, and 2.0-litre turbo petrol mStallion units for the upcoming products under the JV are already ready for the market. The motors would serve as the power source for the new-gen Ford EcoSport, a ‘B-platform SUV’ and a W605 ‘C-platform SUV’, respectively.
