Mahindra XUV500 will be based on the Funster concept showcased at the 2020 auto expo and will look like a car from the future.

Mahindra XUV500 is now 9-years old in the Indian market. It needs a thorough refresh from ground-up to stand tall against the competition. Mahindra, however, is working on a facelift of the SUV, but this facelift will also mark an end to this generation of the car. The generation change will impart an all-new chassis and engine to the SUV. It will keep the traditional XUV elements like the sleek headlamps with DRL and the distinctive fascia of the XUV intact. It will also carry the dynamic silhouette of the XUV forward to the next generation of the car.

Next-Gen Mahindra XUV500 will be based on the Funster concept showcased at the auto expo.

The Funster concept showcased the auto expo will be the baseline for the next-generation XUV500. The Funster concept showcased the auto expo is the second concept that Mahindra has showcased on the lines of XUV after the XUV Aero concept. Although, Funster is the wildest and most modern concept ever seen from Mahindra Design house. It starts life wearing a tinge of gold on a shade of brown. It gets blue-DRLs, which are sharper than ever seen on any Mahindra before. It also misses out on a roof to embrace the roadster look. That said, the XUV500 will have a roof, instead, with a sunroof.

Just like the exteriors, interiors on the Funster concept are direct from the future.

The Funster looks like a car of space-age from outside, as well as from the inside. It gets seats for four passengers in total, with 2-doors to access the cabin. The futuristic cabin gets a fully-digital cockpit with an LCD as wide as the half of the dashboard. It is divided into two parts, where one serves as the instrument cluster, while the other one serves the purpose of the infotainment unit. The doors on the Funster are no less either, as they open upwards like the scissor doors seen on the Murcielago. However, all of this fancy stuff is would not make its way to the production-spec XUV500, but it will follow the lines of the Funster concept.
