Finally, after a long wait, Mahindra has planned to introduce the Apple Car Play connectivity option in the XUV500 on 31st May 2019.

Indian carmaker Mahindra is set to roll-out Apple CarPlay connectivity for the XUV500’s touchscreen infotainment system. The new feature will be introduced on May 31, 2019. Mahindra has already officially listed the availability of the tech on the XUV500’s online brochure. Apple CarPlay will be available only on the top of the line W11 (O) variant. On the other hand, all variants equipped with the 7.0-inch touchscreen like W7, W9 and W11 (O) offer Android Auto connectivity.

The carmaker is also working on a new BS6 compliant, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine for the next generation its popular SUV. The new diesel motor is expected to come in three states of tune, with the XUV500 is set to get the most powerful iteration. This diesel unit will also help to propel the next-gen Scorpio and the Thar. The upcoming new-gen Mahindra XUV500 will be co-developed in partnership with American car maker Ford. Both the companies are also planning to co-develop a new Ford SUV that will share its underpinnings with the next-gen XUV500.

Mahindra recently introduced a new base variant of the XUV500, which has been priced at Rs 12.28 lakh (Ex-Showroom). The W3 variant is basically the erstwhile W4 variant that was available with the pre-facelift model. Its pricing undercuts the base variant of Harrier. The newly launched base model of the XUV500 lacks some premium features like the chrome-finished grille, alloy wheels, rear washer and wiper, sunroof, etc. That said, the new XUV500 W3 variant does come loaded with features like projector headlamps, which are quite helpful for highways but the car misses out LED DRLs and fog lamps. On the inside, the interior of the car is finished in black, while the soft-touch materials have been ditched in favour of hard plastics.
