Mahindra XUV300 EV might come with two battery options

Pawan Goenka, MD, Mahindra & Mahindra, revealed that there might be two battery packages on the new XUV300-based SUV, one high-performance version and another less powerful version. While the former targets on bringing a performance-enhanced option, the latter is more suitable for daily commuting. It is expected that the high-performance version of the Mahindra XUV300 will be available with a 40 kWh battery pack with a range of around 300km. The electric motor is capable of making a maximum power of 130hp. He also shared that the S210’s battery cells are the first unit to be developed specifically for the India market. Mahindra will continue its partnership with Korean battery manufacturer LG Chem with the production of the new battery for S210.

With the range of around 300km, the high-performance version of the S210 will be more or less on par with the Kona EV. Hyundai offers the Indian customers with a 39.2 kWh battery pack which comes with an ARAI range of 452km. The electric motor returns a power of 136hp and 395Nm. Similarly, both come with DC fast charging option. For Kona Electric, the DC fast charger allows the battery to be charged up to 80 per cent in less than an hour.

Mahindra XUV300-based EV is expected to be offered at a more affordable price tag than the ongoing Kona EV.
