Maruti will introdue the SHVS mild-hybrid system with manual variant of the Vitara Brezza, which should lead to a significant boost in the mileage.

Maruti launched the Vitara Brezza facelift in February this year, after showcasing the SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. Earlier, the Maruti Vitara Brezza was only powered by an oil-burner, but due to the BS6 emission norms, the carmaker discontinued the diesel mill and introduced a BS6-compliant petrol motor for the SUV. The 2020 model derives power from a 1.5-litre, four-pot petrol unit that produces 104bhp of peak power and 138 Nm of twisting force. The same powertrain does duties in Maruti Ciaz, Ertiga, XL6 and upcoming S-Cross.

Maruti will soon introduce SHVS system with the petrol manual vairant of Brezza facelift

Moreover, transmission options include a 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The automatic gearbox comes paired with Maruti’s mild-hybrid SHVS system. This system enhances the fuel efficiency of the car by 15-20%, and it also features auto start-stop function. The new BS6 petrol mill is rated to offer a mileage of 17.5kmpl (MT) and 19 kmpl (AT). Right now, the carmaker is only offering the SHVS mild hybrid system with AT variant, but if Maruti introduces this system with the manual trim than the Brezza manual is likely to offer more mileage than the automatic one. Moreover, recent reports already suggest that the carmaker will soon launch the mild-hybrid system with the manual variant.
