Maruti Alto, Tata Tiago and Renault Triber Help Carmakers Post YoY Growth

Maruti, Tata, and Renault have registered a YoY growth of 1, 43, and 75 per cent, respectively for the month of July. Read here to know, which models helped them in attaining these numbers.

With the ongoing pandemic, the financial stability of the masses is surely at stake. Resultantly, car manufacturers are facing issues in selling cars. However, the automotive industry was already in a slump at the same time last year. If the total sales figures for cars are to be compared for the month of July in 2019 with those sold in July this year, a YoY drop of only 1 per cent has been registered. That being said, some manufacturer has managed to record an appreciable growth on a YoY basis for the month of July. And, these manufacturers are – Maruti, Tata, and Renault. Helping them do so are their top-selling products – Maruti Alto, Tata Tiago, and Renault Triber.

Maruti Alto, Tata Tiago and Renault Triber Help Respective Carmakers to Post YoY Growth

Maruti in July this year sold a total of 97,700 units. With these many cars sold, the carmaker registered a growth of 1 per cent on a YoY basis. In comparison, the Japanese carmaker sold a total of 96,748 units last year. Talking of its highest-selling model, Alto managed to top the charts again. Also, it has been doing so since a decade now. Last month, Maruti sold 13,157 copies of the Alto in the Indian market, while last year in July, the carmaker could only sell 11,157 units. Thus, Alto registered a growth of 18 per cent on a YoY basis.

Tata, on the other hand, registered a YoY growth of 43 per cent for the month of July. Talking of the numbers, Tata managed to sell a total of 15,000 units in July this year, and out of these, 5,337 units were of Tata Tiago. However, last year in July, Tata could only sell 10,485 units in total. And, Tiago contributed in that number with 4,689 units in total. Thus, the small hatchback has marked a positive YoY growth of 14 per cent.

Renault for the month of July has outperformed all the manufacturers that sell cars in the Indian market. The French automaker has posted a YoY growth of 75 per cent by selling 6,400 cars last month. For the same period of time last year, Renault registered a sales figure of 3,660 units only. Helping the carmaker do well on the sales chart is its top-selling model, the Triber. While it was launched in August last year, thus sales for July last year are not available, but this year, the Tiber managed to contribute by 3,076 units.
