Following the arrival of BSVI-compliant petrol engines, the Maruti Baleno diesel and Baleno RS will see an increment in the ex-showroom prices by roughly Rupees 12,000- 20,000.

Maruti Suzuki has just hiked up the prices of the diesel-powered Baleno and Baleno RS following the recent introduction of the BSVI-compliant Maruti Baleno petrol version. From now on, you might have to shell out about Rs 6.73 Lakh for a new diesel-fueled Baleno hatchback to be delivered to your garage while the performance-spec Baleno RS costs around Rs 8.88 Lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). That means the price of the premium Baleno diesel has been increased roughly by Rs 12,000-19,499 depending upon the specific variants while the Baleno RS has been given a surge of Rs 12,913 in its price bracket.

The price of the Maruti Baleno RS has been hiked up to a marginal level in relation to the launch of all-new Baleno DualJet SHVS.

The country’s largest automaker has made the Baleno diesel available in four variants- Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Just last week, Maruti Suzuki introduced a new BSVI-ready Baleno DualJet Smart Hybrid and upgraded Baleno VVT petrol with the introductory prices of Rs 5.58 Lakh and Rs 7.25 Lakh (ex-showroom, respectively). To the point of that, the price increment of the diesel and RS trims could give the recently-launched Baleno DualJet SHVS some breathing space when considering the fact that the outgoing oil-running Baleno claims a more frugal fuel mileage of 27.39 km/l than the new DualJet Smart Hybrid version which offers 23.87 km/l of fuel economy.

Maruti Suzuki just rolled out a new mild-hybrid version of Baleno which employs a BSVI-compliant 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine option.

The existing Maruti Baleno diesel deploys a 1.3-litre DDis 190 engine which outputs a maximum power of 75 PS at 4,000 r/m and a peak torque of 190 Nm at 2,000 r/m. As noted above, it returns an efficient fuel mileage of 27.39 km/l. On the other hand, the Baleno RS features a Japan-sourced 1.0-litre Boosterjet three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline burner tuned for 102 PS of power at 5,500 rpm and 150 Nm torque at 1,700-4,500 rpm. The ARAI-certified fuel mileage of the RS variant is at 21.1 km/l.

2019 Maruti Baleno Diesel & Baleno RS Price List (ex-showroom):

  • Sigma diesel -  Rs 6.74 Lakh

  • Delta diesel -  Rs 7.52 Lakh

  • Zeta diesel - Rs 8.13 Lakh

  • Alpha diesel -  Rs 8.73 Lakh

  • Baleno Rs - Rs 8.89 Lakh
