Maruti Baleno Records 6 Lakh Sales Milestone In 44 Months

Recently, Maruti Suzuki has announced that its Baleno premium hatchback has created a 6 lakh units sales landmark in its record book. Since the first market entry in late 2015, the Maruti Baleno has obtained the monthly sales volume of 13,636 units on average. Regularly, the Baleno has managed to take the first spot on the top 10 best-selling models of the segment on a monthly basis.

The Maruti Baleno has managed to create a new sales milestone by selling as many as 6 lakh units in over three years and a half.

In FY18-19, the Baleno has registered an 11.5 per cent sales growth, earning over 27 per cent of the market share in the A2+ segment in India. In the current market, the Maruti Baleno competes directly with the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo. Despite exchanging the top spot of the monthly sales chart with the Korean premium hatch in initial days, the Baleno turned out to be more superior over the years and become the front-runner over its arch-rivals in recent times.

The Maruti Baleno mainly rivals the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, VW Polo and Honda Jazz in India.

Therefore, in around 44 months, the Maruti Baleno has successfully achieved the milestone of 6 lakh units in cumulative sales that reflects the fabulous popularity of the vehicle in the domestic space. According to Shashank Srivastava, Maruti Suzuki’s Executive Director of Marketing and Sales, the Baleno is presently the most sought-after premium hatchback in the Indian market. Thanks to the periodic technological and mechanical updates, the Maruti Baleno has managed to fulfil customers’ aspirations and likeness and garner a huge band of followers in the country.

The Maruti Baleno is propelled by an 83 hp, 1.2-litre gasoline engine and a 75 hp 1.3-litre oil burner unit. Both the engines are available with a 5-speed manual transmission while the petrol version comes mated to an optional CVT automatic unit. Besides, the Indo-Japanese carmaker also introduced a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol mill that is coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox along with a mild-hybrid system. Note that the Maruti Baleno is the first hatchback to offer BSVI- compliant petrol engines in India. At the moment, the new Baleno is retailed via Maruti’s premium NEXA dealerships at the price range of Rs 5.58 and Rs 8.73 Lakh (ex-showroom). Aside from the regular Baleno, there is also a Toyota's version of Baleno dubbed the Glanza which is set to go on sale in India on June 6, 2019.
