Maruti Baleno isn't the fastest car on sale in the country, but it is surely a fast car on the sales charts. Over 451 units of Baleno are retailed daily since the launch of the Hyundai i20-rival in 2015
Maruti Baleno is the best-selling premium hatchback in the country. It offers a well-balanced composition of good looks, performance, and affordability. The Baleno was launched in October 2015, and it has managed to attract over 8 lakh buyers to date. In simple words, Maruti sold well over 13,000 units of Baleno every month, since its launch in 2015. Breaking down this rather simple calculations, we can affirm that on an average, over 450 units of Maruti Baleno have been sold every day since October 2015. This milestone showcases the response that Maruti Baleno has received from the Indian audience. Even after being nearly five years old in the Indian market, it managed to clock a figure of 19,433 units in September this year.
On the occasion of achieving this milestone, Mr Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “India’s most loved premium hatchback, Maruti Suzuki Baleno has a very special place in our portfolio. With its bold and premium design, cutting edge technology and feature rich offering, Baleno has helped us cement our position in the premium hatchback segment. The timely innovations in Baleno are aligned to the changing aspirations of evolved India. This significant milestone of 8 Lakh delighted customers within a short span of 5 years is a testament of our customer centric philosophy at the core of Baleno’s conceptualization.”
Maruti offers the Baleno with 1.2L 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This K-Series petrol motor is offered in two iterations – K12M and K12N. While the former puts out a peak power output of 83 PS, the rated power output on the latter is 90 PS. The torque output, however, remains identical at 113 Nm. The K12N motor uses one extra injector at every cylinder. Also, it works at a higher compression ratio than the K12M motor. The Baleno is offered with two transmission choices – 5-speed MT and CVT. Moreover, there’s an option of 48-volt mild-hybrid system as well, which improves the low-end grunt and overall fuel efficiency of the Baleno. Prices for the Baleno start at Rs. 5.64 lakh and top out at Rs. 9.03 lakh.
