A Baleno sedan has been modified and turned into a stunning McLaren-alike vehicle that you will love to have.

The Maruti Baleno has by now become a household name that has been the top-seller in the B1-segment hatchback space. However, the earlier Baleno, which was a C2-segment sedan positioned above the Esteem, couldn't find many takers. That said, te car enthusiasts appreciated it for the great engine performance and decent dynamics. In this post, we have a modified Maruti Baleno that tries to mimic a McLaren sportscar.

To start with, we should revise the history of the Maruti Baleno, especially the Baleno sedan. Baleno sedan was one of the less popular models in India and was discontinued in 2007. It made a successful comeback in 2015 under the form of a hatchback. This stunning modified beast is the creation of Raj Customs. The car is mostly inspired by the design of the McLaren. It also takes design cues from several sources including the front headlamp which looks just like the one from Toyota GT86/ Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. Now, let’s take a closer look into the construction of this supercar miniature.

It is obvious that the body panel has been strongly customised and assembled to archive the playfully stylish look of a sports car. The front profile is reshaped to look sharper, more aggressive. The headlights are also more swept-back and sleeker while the fog light housing is given a chrome border touch. And don’t forget the signature low-stance of a sports car which is obliviously not there in its first life.

The rear of the car is where the magic is weaved. It has completely abandoned the old look and replaced it with a new appearance. With usually-shaped taillight, a new pair of exhausted pipes and an exaggeratedly-reworked bumper, we could hardly recognize it was once a Baleno sedan.

The highlight of the body is its uncommon scissors doors that could only be found in luxury sports cars. Without this feature, it is bizarre to call itself a McLaren-inspired car. Also, it is hard to ignore the gorgeously purple-black-finished wheels. These unique wheels work well with the whole car body paints, effectively catches the attention of bystanders.

The modifying job is not only given to the exterior but also inflicted to the interior. However, the interior overhaul is not as intense as on the exterior. Basic touch like new leather-wrapped seats changes the vibe inside the car.

The conversion of the cosmetic look could make the Baleno sedan appear like a McLaren but whether it does run like a McLaren is the matter of mechanic parts. From this standpoint, it is sorry that this Baleno sedan keeps the same 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that is good for 94bhp of power and 130 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox is responsible for the transmission duty. The car is not so fuel-efficient with the mileage rated at 15.4kmpl.

The whole transformation process lasts for one year and costs around 4.5 lakh, revealed by its owner. It was a good price to have such a looker to cruise around with.
