At the end of the FY2019, Maruti Celerio was confirmed to finally enter the one-lakh-sales-per-year exclusive club.

Maruti Celerio first appeared on the automobile scene back in 2014. For the past five years, the Celerio has made its name as one of the most popular hatchbacks in the market. Nearly 4.7 lakh units of the Celerio have been sold in the course of its existence, and over 1 lakh models retailed in the last twelve months. More specifically, in FY 2019, the Maruti Celerio has sold 1,03,734 units, which makes it one of the few models to breach the annual one-lakh sales mark. Compared with FY2018's record, Maruti Celerio’s sales in the last fiscal has grown by 10 per cent.

With 1,03,734 units sold in 2018-2019, Maruti Celerio now becomes one of the few models to achieve a six-figure sales figure in a year.

When first launched in India, the Celerio was the first vehicle to get an AMT (auto gear shift in Maruti speak). The feature set a new bar for the market. Thanks to the recent comprehensive updates on the styling and the safety features, Maruti Celerio has been able to make a leap to exceed the yearly one-lakh sales milestone.

The MAruti Celerio is powered by a K10B 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine that is available in both petrol and petrol-CNG options. The petrol-only option produces a maximum power of 68 bhp and 90 Nm of torque. If running on CNG, the engine is capable of making 59 bhp and 78 Nm, which makes it less powerful than the petrol-only version. However, it is the CNG that delivers an impressive mileage of 31.79 km/kg in comparison with 23.1 kmpl from the petrol option. A 5-speed manual gearbox comes as standard across the range. Besides, the petrol-only version is also available with an optional 5-speed automated manual transmission.

Maruti Celerio's recent updates bring in additional safety features, thereby helping it appeal more to the customers.

Maruti Celerio comes in four grades, namely, LXI, Tour H2, VXI and ZXI. Apart from the Tour H2, each grade comes with an (O) variant. The majority of the Celerio customers opt for the top-spec ZXI trim, which accounts for 52% of the total sales. Maruti Celerio is currently sold in a price range of Rs 4.21 lakh to Rs 5.48 lakh.
